Procedural Rights in Practice: FULL-PROOF Featured in Polish Podcast
What does respecting procedural rights look like in the everyday work of police officers? A new episode of the Polish podcast W zasięgu. Rozmowy o bezpieczeństwie, produced by FULL-PROOF partner Polish Platform for Homeland Security (PPHS), explores this question from both a legal and practical perspective.
The episode, recorded in Polish, features Senior Commissioner Dr Anna Kamińska from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań. Drawing on her experience as both a police officer and a legal scholar, she discusses how safeguards for detained persons are applied in practice and why respecting them is an essential part of properly conducted criminal proceedings.

Efficient does not always mean fast
One of the central messages of the conversation is that efficiency should not be confused with speed.
Procedural safeguards, including the right to information and access to a lawyer, may require additional steps and time. However, as the discussion highlights, overlooking these requirements at an early stage can have consequences later in criminal proceedings.
The episode also looks at the role of systemic solutions in supporting practitioners. Clear procedures, practical guidance and appropriate training can help police officers apply procedural safeguards consistently, including when working under pressure.
These issues closely reflect the focus of FULL-PROOF: supporting the effective application of procedural rights in practice and strengthening the knowledge of professionals who work with suspects and accused persons.
The video above is a shortened version of the conversation in Polish, with English subtitles.

From FULL-PROOF resources to local discussion
The conversation also introduces some of the resources developed within FULL-PROOF, including the project’s Guidance Booklets, Right to Know quizzes and the Best Practice Replicability Framework.
Dr Kamińska reflects on the value of accessible learning tools that allow practitioners to test their knowledge, identify areas for improvement and keep up with changes in regulations. The discussion shows how project resources can complement professional training and support continued learning.
The podcast is one example of how FULL-PROOF partners are bringing the project’s topics and results into national and local professional discussions in their own languages.
