Supporting Fair Justice: FULL-PROOF Guidance Booklets Now Available

FULL-PROOF Booklets

The FULL-PROOF project is pleased to announce the publication of its Guidance Booklets for Professionals, Authorities, Institutions, Suspects and Accused Persons, and Vulnerable Persons – a practical set of resources developed to support the respect and effective implementation of procedural rights across the European Union.

Developed by the FULL-PROOF partnership, these booklets focus on the rights of suspects and accused persons under Directives 2012/13/EU (right to information), 2013/48/EU (right of access to a lawyer) and 2016/1919/EU (right to legal aid). They provide clear and accessible information, addressing key questions encountered in practice and offering guidance based on established good practices.

By combining practical guidance with user-friendly content, the booklets aim to support institutions, organisations and professionals in their daily work, while also helping individuals better understand and exercise their rights during the initial stages of criminal proceedings.

Six Target Groups – Tailored Guidance

The booklets have been developed in six dedicated versions, tailored to the needs of:

  • Institutional stakeholders
  • Lawyers
  • Police officers
  • Prosecutors
  • Suspects and accused persons
  • Vulnerable persons

Each version reflects the practical context and specific needs of its target audience.

About the FULL-PROOF Project

As the team behind the FULL-PROOF project (Ensuring the due course of criminal proceedings by strengthening respect for the procedural rights of suspects and the accused), our goal is to improve criminal justice procedures by addressing breaches of procedural rights at the earliest stages of proceedings

We work closely with police officers and lawyers to increase awareness and improve understanding of how to effectively engage with suspects and accused persons. By analysing common challenges in the application of existing directives and building on best practices, we aim to develop a framework that can be replicated across jurisdictions

The project focuses on three key EU directives:

We encourage all stakeholders to explore the materials and make use of them in their daily practice.
